How are you? Today I read the news about the chaos in Quezon city - it was very upset.

For the coronavirus, I think people should pay more attention to developing countries with big population, because they won't have enough sources to cope with it.

At the beginning, WHO and many governments suggested that only people with symptoms of coronavirus should wear a mask, because its increasing supply could never satisfy the bombing demand - they must firstly assure the masks' supply for the ones who really need it, and avoid social panic. However, according to latest studies, the truth is that 18%-30% of virus carriers are without any symptoms - they can still infect others. So it seems that it is more scientific to suggest everyone to wear a mask in public places.

We know that a surgical mask is designed for blocking the droplets of the person who wear it. In other words, it's majorly used for protecting others, more than protecting the wearer. The scientists also mention that the performances of blocking droplets are almost the same good for any kind of masks.

If WHO modifies their instruction about masks, it is foreseeable that there would be more serious global shortage of surgical masks. Anyway, the rich people could still get their masks, but i do feel worried about the poor.

A chemistry professor in Hong Kong has designed a reusable mask, which can be DIY. He has shared all the details with everyone for free. After studies, he found that the performance of the DIY mask could reach 90% of the surgical mask, even though he put kitchen towel paper in the middle of DIY mask, instead of meltblown. If everyone in the world, no matter rich or poor, could wear a mask in the public places, I believe that the virus will fade away sooner. China has proved it to some extent. I hope that we will share this info with the people who might need it, suggesting people to treat masks properly, and leave best masks and aspirator N95 for the people who will use them to save lives. 

Although we have to stay at home and suffer from economy lockdown, we can probably, do something good to the world - at least, it is much more meaningful than watching the ugly arguments between politics. Thank you very much.
